Games to Track During the Weekend

Friday-
Baylor vs. Washington (Anchorage, Alaska)- Baylor in some people's eyes are a contender for a top two finish in the Big 12.  Washington is a young team with two 5 star freshman in Isiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels.  These are two teams that on defense rely on their 2-3 zone to stymy opponents.  I'm intrigued to see what Washington's defense looks like without Matisse Thybulle and having so many newcomers to the team.  Baylor on the other hand has experience and good three-point shooting.  They will rely heavily on Tristan Clark on the inside, and Devonte Bandoo, MaCio Teague, and Mark Vital on the perimeter.

Prediction: Baylor

Davidson vs. Auburn (Annapolis, Maryland)- Auburn is a team that is looking to reload after losing several key contributors like Jared Harper and Chuma Okeke who both are in the pros.  Austin Wiley, and Anfernee McLemore still remain on the team with newcomers Issac Okoro and Jamal Johnson coming into the fold.  Auburn is coming off of a somewhat average win versus Georgia Southern.  Davidson on the other hand is returning almost everyone and they look like a title contender in the A-10 conference.  They go as their two studs Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Kellan Grady go.  If you like up and down action then this is the game for you.  This game will be important for both of these teams come march.

Prediction: Davidson

Saturday-
Texas @ Purdue (West Lafayette, Indiana)- This game easily will be the game of the weekend.  For Texas, they return a lot of production from last year.  Matt Coleman is the vocal leader and Courtney Ramey is the tenacious guard from St. Louis, who loves to drive and score tough layups.  With the addition of Assistant Coach Luke Yaklich, Texas should have one of the best defenses in the Big 12.  The concern for them is who will produce in the front court.  When you look at Purdue the major question is who will produce points for this team.  Last year they had the luxury of having Carsen Edwards and Ryan Cline on the team, but this year they will rely on Nojel Eastern, Matt Harms, Aaron Wheeler and newcomer Jahaad Proctor.  This game will come down to who will execute the best on offense.  Both teams should defend at a high level, but offense is in question.

Prediction: Texas
